Saw: Artists Explore the Tool as Canvas

December 5 – December 30, 2014

Curated by Scott Scarboro

In the vein of the 18th century practice of Tole Painting, the folk art of decorative painting on tin and wooden utensils, objects and furniture, local and regional artists use the hand saw or saw blade as a canvas and a source for inspiration. Artists embellished an existing hand saw or saw blade or used their own artistic technique to create a replica of the tool from another material. (wood, iron, glass, clay, etc)

Special musical performance by singer-songwriter Brigid Kaelin.

Exhibiting artists include: Steve Armstrong, Gwen Burke, John J. Cobb, Harlan Strummer, Patrick Donley, Sarah Tidwell, Jen Cricket Bidwell Meyer, Lewis Meyer, Michelle K Amos, Gina Moeller, Lisa Simon, Jim Doiron, Suzanne Edds, Gary Bell, Damon Thompson, Tad DeSanto, Dennis J Shaffner, Lilly Totten, Marcy Rae, Brad White, Wayne Ferguson, Dominic Guarnaschelli, Bonita Parsons, and more.
